Dreamboats & Petticoats Tickets & London Show Meal Deals

dreamboatsandpetticoats

Update: Dreamboats and petticoats is closed from 05 August 2012

In 1961 emotions run high as talented young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win the hearts of their adoring female fans – and more importantly, the gorgeous Laura. But when Laura shows that she’s no slouch with the guitar, rock ‘n’ roll fame beckons…Dreamboats and Petticoats – the songs from this Theatre Break will live forever

Starring Scott Bruton, an X Factor finalist, Scott wowed the nation, Simon Cowell and the other X Factor judges with his vocal talents as he battled his way into the top 12 of this year’s contest. Joining Scott is Ben Freeman, famed for his role as Scott Windsor in ITV’s hit soap, Emmerdale, a character he played for ten years, and Jennifer Biddall who played Jessica Harris in Hollyoaks.

Tony Christie is currently playing the role of Older Bobby and Phil, Bobby’s father. Christie says: “I saw the show’s original opening night in London almost a year ago and just loved the story. And of course the music is incredible – The Platters, Phil Spector, Roy Orbison, Marty Wilde – all artists I grew up listening to. As soon as I saw it I’ve been searching for a gap in my diary to join the show”.

The Theatre Break was first staged in London at the Savoy Theatre following a UK tour, but has been playing at the Playhouse Theatre since January.

Blood Brothers Ticket & London Show Meal Deals

BB

A night out at the theatre is not complete without a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant. Our theatre meal deals for Blood Brothers include a delicious 2-course pre-theatre meal…

The award winning Blood Brothers is one of the West End’s longest running shows

Over 10,000,000 people have already seen this fabulous production. Every night audiences stood and cheered. See it for yourself and understand why!

‘the greatest musical of the decade’, this international smash hit has scooped up four awards for Best Musical in London, seven Tony nominations on Broadway and receives a standing ovation at every performance – Blood Brothers is truly unforgettable with book, lyrics, and music by Willy Russell. It is one of the longest-running plays of all time, with the 1988 West End production still running after nearly 20 years.

Blood Brothers revolves around fraternal twins separated at birth. The twins’ different backgrounds take them to the opposite ends of the social spectrum, one becoming an Oxbridge graduated councilor and the other ending up on the dole and in prison for a while. Both fall in love with the same girl, which leads them to the tragic conclusion. The central character of the show is their mother, Mrs. Johnstone. On Nov 20th Maureen Nolan, of Nolan Sisters fame, will take over the role of the twins’ mother, Mrs Johnstone.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award winning Blood Brothers, which, having opened in 1988 to tremendous acclaim, continues to enjoy standing ovations at almost every devastating performance. In the USA it has had a record breaking run, a hugely successful coast to coast tour and was nominated for 7 Tony Awards.

Betty Blue Eyes Tickets & London Show Meal Deals

bettyblueeyes

Betty Blue Eyes has now Closed

Belts are being tightened and the country’s long-suffering citizens are being told by the government that there will be fair shares for all in return for surviving Austerity Britain. Meanwhile local officials feather their own nests by taking far more than their own fair share. It is of course a Theatre Break set in 1947, and having won the war Britain seems to have lost the peace, and the country is staggering under the burden of acute rationing, unemployment and the coldest winter for decades.

The only bright spark on the horizon is the impending marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Twenty six years ago Alan Bennett and Malcolm Mowbray wove this story into a hilariously funny but sharply observed comic film called A Private Function, which centered around Betty, an adorable pig, who is being illegally reared to ensure the local dignitaries can celebrate the Royal Wedding with a lavish banquet while the local population make do with Spam. Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman have brilliantly adapted and expanded this story for the stage and George Stiles and Anthony Drewe have written a deliciously infectious, toe-tapping, retro contemporary score.

The result is an utterly British Theatre Break, full of eccentric characters, such as the strange odd couple, Gilbert – an evangelistic chiropodist, and Joyce – a nobody determined to be somebody; Inspector Wormold – an obsessive destroyer of illegal meat; Mother Dear –‘She’s seventy four and ravenous’; along with a weird assortment of bullies, spivs and snobs and of course, our star, Betty the pig.

With a simply marvellous cast of great British actors headed by Sarah Lancashire and Reece Shearsmith, Betty Blue Eyes is like no musical you will have ever seen – but she is worth saving up for!

Woman In Black Tickets and Show & Meal Deals

Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre - production shot

Woman In Black

Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre - production shot

Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre

Unanimously acclaimed by the critics, Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s best selling novel, Woman in Black Theatre Break combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir. It is a formula that provides audiences with an evening of unremitting drama as they are transported into a terrifying and ghostly world.

Now in its 20th year, over 4 million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most exciting, gripping and successful theatre break events ever staged.

A truly scary piece of theatre: a keen young solicitor is sent to execute the estate of a recently deceased woman. He pieces together the details of her strange reclusive life, alone in a remote and mysterious house. Years later, he recounts his experiences, desperate to exorcise the ghosts of the past.

Eel Marsh House stands tall, gaunt and isolated, surveying the endless flat saltmarshes beyond the Nine Lives Causeway, somewhere on England’s bleak East Coast. Here Mrs Alice Drablow lived – and died – alone.

Storyline of Woman in Black

Young Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is ordered by his firm’s senior partner to travel up from London to attend her funeral and receive the relevant papers. His task is a lonely one, and at first Kipps is quite unaware of the tragic secrets which lie behind the house’s shuttered windows. He only has a terrible sense of unease. And then, he glimpses a young woman with a wasted face, dressed all in black, at the back of the church during Mrs Drablow’s funeral, and later, in the graveyard.

Who is she? Why is she there? He asks questions, but the locals refuse to talk about the woman in black, or even to acknowledge her existence, at all. So, Arthur Kipps has to wait until he sees her again, and she slowly reveals her identity to him – and her terrible purpose.

The Woman In Black treads in the footsteps of the classic ghost story, following the tradition of Charles Dickens and M.R James, of Henry James and Edith Wharton.

Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation for the stage remains entirely true to the book itself and uses much of Susan Hill’s own descriptive writing and dialogue, while transforming the novel into a totally gripping piece of theatre
